SS-46
Rare Chinese Pastime Large Brown Transferware Platter Fabulous 17" long rare brown "Chinese Pastime" pattern platter was manufactured by the 1820 Staffordshire firm of Davenport. This pattern is always so desireable with collectors because of its heavily detailed design, and the pattern covers nearly the entire surface of platter. Easily one of the most charming Romantic patterns, featuring different scenes of children at play, a series. This large and impressive example shows two small children riding a seesaw, and another figure clad in long robe and peaked hat standing by, looks like he is giving instruction to his friends. Incredibly gorgeous towering architecture lies behind them, flowering gardens with oversized classical urn, exotic palms, and in left foreground two peacocks and a badminton set. Borderwork is visually striking, so lovely, featuring medallion-like florals, scrollwork, five point petalled flowers, and polka dot segments. Deep, rich, sepia brown color, one of those really three-dimensional designs due to its detail and color shading. Loads of detail. Condition is excellent minus some pinhead size missing glaze specks and some light intermittent wear along rim glaze. Marked on reverse. Nice even crazing. Would be a wonderful addition to your collection of brown.

EE-01
GIANT Stunning Red Pink Transferware Punch Bowl An incredible find, this beautiful mammoth sized red transfer floral Staffordshire punch bowl measures 19+1/4" in diameter and stands 9+3/4" tall. These examples are so rare to locate, punch bowls, if found at all, are usually 10-12" in diameter only. I love these oversized pieces to hold books, flowers, Christmas balls, almost anything! Marked several times by Furnival, the exemplary Staffordshire potter. Dates to latter half of the 19th century. Ideal for display atop a long dining table or larger sideboard. Condition is great minus the crow's foot hairline under small area on flare of bowl, one side. A light small hairline inside of bowl, insignificant.
