Asa Thayer New England Sheraton Secretary Desk Bookcase Signed Asa Thayer Sheraton secretary bookcase desk with fold down writing surface, original glazed glass mullions, and beautiful mahogany wood. Solid case sides, marvelous veneers, a wonderful Cornucopia-like pattern in veneer on top of the fold down writing surface, very striking. Beautiful brass floral pulls. Ink and pen holder compartment. Writing surface is covered in a red velvet baize. Beaded moulding surround along cornice edge and bottom of apron. Ring turned feet. 2" projecting knife edge cornice accents top. Excellent condition, its original surface has been brought up with an authentic French polish. Excellent form and proportions, architecturally pleasing, drawers all level and smooth running, a fabulous piece. Measuring 76+1/2" tall, 42" wide, and 20+3/4" deep.

Boston Sheraton Federal Secretary Bookcase Desk 1810-15 A beautiful period secretary desk, circa 1810-15, and of Boston origin. It is made of mahogany wood and striking mahogany veneers an d pine secondaries. Fold out writing surface. Fitted interior in upper case with four small pocket drawers and five pigeon holes flanked by two sets of small drawers. Two moulded edge shelves. Cornice has a central tablet flanked by cornerblocks. Two glazed glass arched doors with a brass astragal moulding. Lowercase has three cockbeaded drawers with lionhead pulls. Beautiful, animated scrolled apron with tall Sheraton turned legs, 9+1/2" tall. All original glueblocks, backboards, and finish. Measuring 77" tall at cornice top, case 40" wide, case 20" deep. Condition is excellent and drawers slide smoothly and even.

American Classical New York City Gilt Wing Paw Sofa Period Federal circa 1810-20 classical sofa, most likely of New York City origin. It has a three panelled scrolling back terminating in ring turned cone rondelles and reeded stiles. Scrolling reeded arms terminating in turned rondelles. Ebonized hairy paw feet with carved and extended gold gilt wings, with acanthus leaf at front. All old casters, appear to be 19th century. Secondary wood on feet is ash. Ash and cherry secondaries on frame. Newly upholstered in a beautiful red classical Napoleanic bee and wreath fabric. Springs have all been re-tied and are tight. Authentically French polished. Mahogany is very dense and beautifully shaded. Very comfortable. It has a low profile, classical French edge seat. Bolster pillows appear to be original to the sofa as well. A fabulous, gorgeous Amerian Classical sofa.

New York Empire Cluster Column Center / Dining Table This incredible New York period Empire mahogany banquet table extends to 11'. Additional leaves can be added. Closed it is 48" in diameter, a wonderful center table. Circa 1830-35, it boasts a solid mahogany top, with authentic French polish. Scroll feet with period casters. Beautifully veneered apron with beaded moulding along bottom. Very stable, sturdy, and balanced, opens easily and all joints nice and tight. With the six mahogany leaves in place, the table is 9+1/2' long, additional leaves can be added to meet its 11' full extension. Extremely desireable cluster column form, an impressive and beautiful example.

American Classical New York Pier Table Stunning and elegant circa 1825-35 New York classical pier table boasts wonderful melon ribbed gilt feet with classically inspired Corinthian overturned carved acanthus leaf, marvelous animated bookmatched crotch mahogany veneers, beautiful proportions, is in excellent condition, and is authentically French polished. It retains its original mirror, original backboards, original exquisite bronze mounts, and original black with gold Egyptian marble top. Under top there is an ebonized and powder gilded knife edge moulding supporting apron which exhibits extraordinarily exuberantly figured bookmatched mahogany veneer. Lower edge has a border of stencilled repeating star motif, some small losses above column mounts. Crotch mahogany veneered columns and pilasters are so striking, just gorgeous. Original gold mercury gilded mounts in excellent condition, having extraordinary color and preservation. Rear pilasters have gilded wood base and capitals. Pilasters are all also veneered. Plinth is of concave shape with one piece of highly figured veneer, in a wave-like pattern. Between the melon ribbed feet and Corinthian mounts are original ebonized and powder gilded patinas. The front of apron is segmented crotch mahogany. Rear legs have gold gilt turned feet. Dimensions: 42+1/2" wide, 38" tall, 18" deep. This table is a real "must see," as pictures here do not do it justice. Please call for an appointment.

New York Sheraton Mahogany Serving Table Server c.1800 Incredibly beautiful New York server, school of Duncan Phyfe or possibly Michael Allison. See page 933, Volume IV of American Antiques from Israel Sack Collection, plate 3664. Solid striped mahogany top with reeded top edge. Divided top drawer and one long drawer flanked by turret reeded columns. Brass rosette pulls and top drawers have locks in the brass escutcheons. Concave shelf underneath. Turned bulbous reeded New York front leg with brass furule ball foot. Turned back feet conforming with front brass feet. Top conforms with turretted corner posts.

NYC Restauration Extension Dining Table c.1830-40 Phyfe An amazing, gorgeous banquet table, circa 1830-40, New York City, and school of Duncan Phyfe and Sons. Measuring 59" wide, 29" tall, and with leaves in and fully extended, 159", over 13 feet long. When closed, this piece is ideal to use as a library or card table, rectangular in shape and measuring 26+1/2" x 55". It boasts a beautiful figured crotch mahogany veneered apron on all four sides, with beaded moulding along lower edge. This table was meant to be viewed from all angles. The end apron is a telescoping extension rail mounted atop a cross brace bolted to the base, providing additional leaves to be locked in place. A pair of rail turned Sheraton legs with original brass cup casters drop down from extension rail and are locked in place by a yoke and clip. There are (2) 28" leaves, (4) 22" leaves, and (1) 14" leaf. Fully extended with leaves in place, the table is 13'3", and easily and comfortably accomodates 12-14 diners. The table is supported by highly figured veneered tapered columns and are held onto the stretcher base by an iron shaft and bolt. Trestle feet end in vertical cylinders with moulded turned feet concealing original brass casters. The convex discs surmount the cylinders and cyma curved brackets run from front and back along trestle feet. All veneers are highly figured and beautifully matched throughout the piece, and all the leaves are dense, striped shaded solid mahogany with thumb edge moulding. Beautifully, authentically French polished. An incredible table.

Period Empire Mahogany Classical Inspired Mixing Table A beautiful post American Classical form, a period Empire mahogany mixing table server, most likely of New York City origin. Sleigh front with scroll foot. This piece boasts wonderful crotch veneer over solid mahogany cupboard doors and all scrollwork. Solid Cuban striped shaded mahogany top and sides. Top has a bullnose edge. Frieze drawer has crotch mahogany ogee form on its secondary wood of poplar. Original backboards have never been taken off. Working drawer locks and key in good condition and appear to be one original and one old replacement. It is extremely well made and has excellent proportions, measuring 43" wide, 39+1/2" tall, and 21" deep. There is ample room for a mixing table server, an ideal bar.

Period New York City American Classical Gilt Wing Sofa Outstanding circa 1810 New York City American classical sofa, possibly from the shop of Duncan Phyfe. This piece has solid mahogany arms and back, with solid cherry frame, all joints and back very tight with no play, structurally sound throughout. Four radial concave braces intact and original, in untouched condition. Never had springs put in. Tapered reeding on scrolled arms, reeded apron front. Newly upholstered in a classical wreath and anthemion pattern, very beautiful. Period brass casters. Backrest is solid, hard mahogany, having beautiful horizontal and vertical graining, one continuous panel with bead. Feet are made from ash, a gilt carved wing with acanthus and scroll above ebonized hairy paw foot. This short wing is indicative of Phyfe carving, a signature trait. Original surface brought up with an authentic French polish. Bolster pillows being made. 84" long.

Att. Joseph Meeks & Sons Empire Marble Top Pier Table A beautiful, elegant circa 1835-45 marble top pier table, attributed to Joseph Meeks & Sons, see #25 in his 1833 Broadside advertisement shown in Wendy Cooper's Classical America, page 211. Brilliantly figured veneer covers the entire surface. Scrolled, veneer front legs. Platform base has a veneered wave scroll terminating in a cylinder with turned cups at either side. Fluid, sweeping lines. Wonderfully turned conical shape back foot ending in a suppressed ball. Mirror bevelled on all sides appears to be original, with some silver flaking away, comensurate with age. Period marble replacement after a wood top once replaced the original marble as evidenced by frame. Measuring 36+3/4" tall, 18+1/2" deep, top is 41" x 18".

Gorgeous 1830 New York Square Marble Top Center Table A circa 1830-45 wonderful rare square marble top center table, possibly school of Joseph Meeks or Duncan Phyfe. The table retains its beautiful, original Carerra marble white marble with grey veining. Flared apron is covered with matched crotch mahogany veneer. A knife edge moulding at top edge supports the overhanging marble, creating an architectural cornice. The lower top edge has raised 1/2" banding. An octagonal pillar with exquisite matched crotch mahogany veneer is supported on four scroll feet with original heavy duty casters. The scrolled waves atop the legs are mahogany veneered and terminate in a solid mahogany cylinder with turned rondelles at either end. This table exhibits the best in proportions, having fluid lines, great form, the finest of the period. Top measuring 36+1/2" x 36+1/2", 30" tall, and 25" tall at bottom of apron.

Beautiful Period Federal New York Piano Stool c.1815-20 A wonderful Federal New York piano stool, circa 1815-20. Mahogany rope turned legs with brass furule ball feet. Seat and seat frame is cherry. Alternating flat and round reeded top edge. It is easily raised or lowered by the revolving threaded screw. Newly upholstered in classical anthemion and wreath patterned fabric, very beautiful.

Duncan Phyfe Carved Feather Federal Period NY Sideboard An incredibly beautiful, outstanding period example, possibly from the shop of Duncan Phyfe. See Plate 154 in Nancy McClelland's Duncan Phyfe and the Regency Period. Top measures 60" long, 25" deep, 44" tall at top of case, 55+1/4" tall at top of backsplash. Top board is a 1/4" piece of mahogany on frame with a bullnose edge. Top edge of case has an elegant beaded cove moulding creating an architectural cornice. Three drawers across top, center is a candle drawer, flanked by two silver drawers. Original lionmask pulls. On either side of the drawers there is framed panel with highly figured mahogany with 1/4" recess. Beneath candle drawer are two wine drawers with divided compartments accommodating six bottles. Cupboard doors are mahogany veneer on mahogany with scissor hinges. Ample storage space. All with original locks. All front surfaces are highly figured in exquisite flame crotch mahogany. The recess in cupboard door panel is only 1/16". The veneer on the cupboard door frame is highly striped, with light and dark patterns. Columns are turned of solid mahogany from the heart of the tree. Top capital is low relief, finely carved water leaf. Side panels are solid mahogany. Feet are classically inspired, and found on documented Phyfe case furniture. See Plate 155 of McClelland's book. Backsplash is a broken arch pediment with an incredible Prince of Wales feather mounted on pedestal. Cylindrical columns with reeded plates at either end, extremely fine and solid mahogany with matched crotch mahogany on backsplash. All the mouldings and elements on this piece exhibit the highest quality of workmanship and joinery. All original hardware. Truly reflects an extreme opulence, reflective of Phyfe.

1795 Hepplewhite Bachelor's Chest Dresser with Inlay Great small circa 1795 bachelor's chest will easily find a place in any room in the house. Beautiful crotch mahogany top with black and white checkerboard string inlay and cross banded edge. Three mahogany drawers with cockbeaded edges and all original oval cornucopia pulls. Solid mahogany case sides with cupid's bow apron and ending in French feet. Black and white stringing above cupid's bow. All drawers level and smooth, the dresser is in excellent condition. Excellent small proportions -- 37+1/2" wide, 35+1/4" tall, 20" deep.
